By Alexandra Gagan / January 4, 2015

Guven Karacuha, Vice-General Director of the State Hydraulic Works, has said that the terrestrial part of the project has completed, and when work to secure the pipes at sea is finished, “water from Alakporu will start to flow to TRNC from May 2015″.

However, despite the advantages of water supply to the island, there has been some controversy surrounding the pipeline work.

Protests have been held by local residents who have been ordered to evacuate their homes for he construction of a dam. They are demanding new houses, free of charge.
